Disappointment
I have been neglectful again. Of posting anyway. I have written out lots of Spanish assignments, read both history and anthro books, and taken a number of naps. And watched probably too much television, but what else is there to do?
I have a forensic chem lab that I should be writing a report for, but I hardly see the point. Our all-knowing, couldn't-possibly-be-wrong professor gave us badly made photocopies of a print of a shoe and two tire treads that we are supposed to compare and answer questions about. The three hour lab lasted thirty minutes, and that's only cuz we stretched it out by pretending to use the magnifying glass. This guy really needs to learn how to make more interesting labs that might actually teach something. As you might have already heard, I was not impressed with his test, either. And those end-of-chapter questions we spent four and a half hours answering, he spent ten minutes correcting all of them. That's the last time we put effort into his homework. I thought this class would be better, but I guess I was just as well off watching some of the approximately fifteen crime/police shows that are currently on television. Not all of them portray things incorrectly. They just don't show everything that happens, which is fine with me. I also learned more stuff by reading books, such as Kathy Reichs (which the tv show Bones is based on) and Jeffrey Deavers. So this class is only useful in that it satisfies the lab science requirement. Which is important, so I shall stick with it. Also, I cannot give him the satisfaction of dropping the class. Not that I am known for dropping classes...

I'm sorry this class turned out to be a bummer. I know you were looking forward to it. I'm glad that at least vicariously you are getting something useful through books and even TV. (Interesting that Bones is based on Kathy Reichs. I'm glad I sent you in that direction. I will probably get to the books before the TV show though. Then again I've watched almost all the Monk on DVD and am working on Firefly, so I'lll have to find something else to watch. But you know I don't like to be tied to a time frame. Maybe Matthew will get them from cyberspace for me someday.) Is this guy a real forensic scientist? Or just a poor imitation? I hope that they let you evaluate him at the end of the term.
He fancies himself a real forensic scientist, just because he has been to court a few times. Yes, I definitely get to evaluate him.
